Roses

This is my favourite skirt at the moment! It seems to go with just about anything, which is very handy when I'm in a rush to get dressed for school. Today I wore it with this rose print top which I bought on eBay (I'm becoming increasingly addicted to eBay - you know it has got to a worrying stage when you regularly meet your 'watched items' limit...).

I WAS going to give the t-shirt my 'cutting a new neckline' treatment but I have decided that I like it the way it is.

T-shirt - H&M (ebay)
Skirt - Topshop (ebay)
Cardigan - H&M
Belt - Vintage
Shoes - Hush Puppies

Anyway, I desperately need some help and advice from all of you knowledgable photographers. My 18th birthday is coming up, and my parents have kindly offered to buy me my own camera! But I don't have a clue what to buy. I was thinking of going down the Digital SLR route, or the bridge camera route, but then I thought that perhaps they'd be too bulky to carry around - and normal pocket sized digital cameras are pretty good nowadays. My budget is about £300 at maximum. Are DSLRs worth the extra weight and cost?
Heeelp!

Lovely outfit! BTW, DSLRs are absolutely worth it. Everything looks a million times better than with a point-and-shoot.

Hi! Great outfit, I love your top and belt! I'm no camera buff but I can tell you I have a high end bridge camera and a pretty old DSLR and I'm selling the bridge camera on ebay because I need the money. In other words, I much prefer my DSLR. It depends what you want it for though. My SLR is super bulky (though that's probably more to do with it being quite old) so if you're not planning to get into photography and you want to use it when out with friends then I'd go with a point and shoot or maybe a bridge.

DSLR's are worth it, they are bulky to carry but the pictures you get from it are amazingly improved from digital camera. I'd use a digital camera though if it's just for click photos, if you aren't really wanting to do alot of photography :)

I really do need to learn how to find things on ebay!

Oh, I just love this outfit! I'm afraid I can't be much help on the camera front, as I'm in the same situation...I think a DSLR is a good choice though, I've heard Nikon and Canon are the best makes!

cute! I had the same dilemma with my birthday, decided to go down the digital route as SLR's are so bulky and really, I don't have a need for one just yet!
Anyway, I got a fuji one, I think, it's white and so beautiful to look at, which normally means it's not actually a very good camera, but it's brilliant!

oh you look so cute!!
you know when youve worked at a company too long as i know that tshirt is h&m from about a year ago haha

i have a nikon d40 which is a digital slr and is perfect so me. i would highly reccomend it. they are about £200 off amazon and then add insurance. so you can get a little something extra too :)

I'm not so much a photography person but I would recommend getting a DSLR or even a regular SLR as they will last you longer - compact digitals evolve so quickly and knowing what parents are like, I'm sure they'd like to buy you something that you'll treasure for more than a couple of years. I have a lot of friends who got digital cameras for their 18ths which are pretty much obsolete now, much to the disappointment of their parents!

Digital SLRs are great, but I agree about being too bulky. Two years ago for my birthday I got a Canon Powershot G9, and I LOVE it. It's only a digital, but it's 12 megapixels, and has so many features. I mean, it's lasted two years already and I feel no need to get a new camera. There is a new one out (Poershot G10 I think?) which I'm sure is equally as good. But this is only a digital, not a digital SLR. I'd highly reccommend it though.

I love it I Love it! Btw, DSLR IS worth :) it. However, I agree that they are too bulky, which I can't be bothered to carry around especially when you're on travel or something. Normal digital camera is also gooooood I like the Sony version which has like amazing zoom. Canon creates softer quality in their photos too. You should read lots of review online they're very useful!

Hey! Thanks for stopping by my blog! This is such a cute outfit, very pretty top. About the cameras - I'm facing the same dilemma. I don't know if I want to go with a really good compact digital camera or if I want to go the digital SLR route and risk having a camera that is too bulky to carry around. I've asked my photographer-friends what they think and one of my friends who has the Canon 450D (which I have been considering) says it is a bit too bulky to be carrying around to paries and stuff. So you might want to get a smaller digital camera that you can carry with you all the time. I'm looking at the Canon G10 or G11 at the moment. It's supposed to be great (Canon are always good). My sister just got the Panasonic LX3 which is a nice small size and takes great pictures and has a lot of good features. Hope this helped! :)

Nikon D40 is one of the cheapest on the market, and is a DSLR, Canon is fine to but Nikon is for sure the best camera mark, so I think you should consider it.
I was thinking about getting a Canon and I ended up with a Nikon... and I'm really glad. There's also the new Alphas from Sony but those are really expensive.

I adore that outfit! Everything about it is quite perfect. The top adds a nice pop of colour.

Don't you just love those items that seem to go with everything? I've been looking for a skirt like that for a while now. Too bad there's no topshop in Canada :P
