The other day I was browsing the New Look website when I came across a coat that matched all of my 'criteria' - long sleeved, mid thigh length, rounded collar and with an A line shape. I have been on a search for the perfect coat since last year, and I seem to keep buying ones that aren't quite perfect - meaning that I have about 7 coats, but none that I am 100% happy with. (Don't worry - most of them cost under £5!).
With the winter approaching I could justify spending a little bit more, so I decided to order the coat from the website. But I couldn't choose between black and red so I got them both! But now it's decision time - which one should I keep, and which one should I return?
I really love the red one but practicality is telling me to keep the black! What does everyone think?

Keep the red one, the black fades away to boredom beside it!
ReplyDeletelovely top :)
ReplyDeleteI think you should keep the red. I bought a red jacket from H&M three years ago and I still wear it all the time. Its also nice to wear something bright in the dreary winter months.
ReplyDeletei'd keep the red one (like the commenters above me said^^), everyone(including me:() has a black coat and who cares if red doesn't go with every colour, how many times are you going to wear your coat unbuttoned, so everyone can see what you're wearin underneath?
ReplyDeleteGo with the Red, it'll cheer you up when the wind in howling and the rain is coming in sideways.
ReplyDeletewell. if you don't own a single black coat i'd go for the black. but if you do own one, then i'd take the red one. one black coat is definitely enough.
ReplyDeletetake the red one, with the black you will always have hair or dust in it, and it's soooo annoying !
ReplyDeletei think you look good in both. but somehow the red one is more you (the one i know by reading the blog post of course)
ReplyDeletehave fun in france! i will miss reading your blog, so make sure you gonna post about the trip!
I guess so far I am in the minority, I like both too- but I just love that style in black!
ReplyDeleteRed, definitely. I have a thing for red coats, especially if they're A-line. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove your top/belt, by the way!
Oh red for defo! looks more expensive than the black.Red stands out more too. Be nice round xmas time xx
ReplyDeleteRED!
ReplyDeleteI really like the red one I want to steal it lol I have a lot of red and black coats together lol. But I'm stuck between the two too but go with the one that u think suits u best and goes with ur personality ask everyone u knowXx :D btw I think ur awesome
ReplyDeleteThe red one looks the best on you!

Hi as you know, Im a Style Consultant and extreemly bossy, tee hee, so you must go for the ladybird red!P.S If you get chance pop into my Style Dispensary session and check out out some Stylish coats that I suggested for one of my followers!Sharon xxoo
ReplyDeletefor you, the red!!!
ReplyDeleteRed! Classy but not stiff. And I think it looks better on you then the blackone. Plus that 50% of all the girls own a black coat.
ReplyDeleteAnd nowadays lots of girls don't look at their outfit colours and their jacket colour anymore. If you got more coats you can always switch when red is really not suitable :P
I agree with most, red is the better choice.
ReplyDeleteKeep the red one! Red coats are so cute, especially that one which I nearly bought myself but couldn't afford.
ReplyDeleteIm so jealous of you going to France, hope you have an awesome time :)

Black, it's classic and won't get dirty and probably won't go out of fashion for a while, and can be worn to any occasion, like if you're going out in the evening or to a funeral or somewhere smart or something :]

red! the colour looks fabulous on you, and red is actually quite versatile. black is a bit drab - besides, don't you want something vivid to brighten up the dreary winter? :)
ReplyDeleteRed is just as timeless as black, and much funnier and less common :)
ReplyDeleteIf you already own loads of coats you don't quite love you should keep the red one that you really love rather than the black one which will just be another coat you *almost* love
ReplyDeleteYour top is gorgeous as.
ReplyDeleteGo with the red one!
If you really love the red, I think you should keep that and return the black!
ReplyDeleteI see red as a pseudo-neutral (not technically classified as neutral, but it goes with so many things!), and if you love it, you'll be happy every time you wear it.
I like the black one, but the red one is probably more exciting. Nice shape!
ReplyDeletei love the red one :))
ReplyDeletered!
ReplyDeleteI would say, keep the black! (But I'm really into black atm!)
ReplyDeleteKeep the red one. Black may be practical but the red will give you a nice pick me up on a dull wintery day.
ReplyDeleteI've got a lavendar coloured trench coat and I love that it's a classic shape but with an inject of colour.
P.s. You may end up hating the black one too. I get a bit like that with dark clothes. I'll open my wardrobe and think "Ohhh everything looks so drab and boring." Colour is the way to go.
ReplyDeleteP.P.S. Put some different buttons on it. Those metallic ones look a little cheap. If you could find some cute ones in a charity shop or ebay, then it'd make it look more like a vintage treasure than a high street bargain.
red! it looks gorgeous on you!
ReplyDeletered red red yes!
ReplyDeleteI simply adore the red- I also have a red coat and I find it actually quite simple to match.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute coat! I definitely think you should keep it in red- it really, really suits you in that colour x
ReplyDeleteI vote red! Looks like it came out of a fairytale!
ReplyDeletethe red one, it suits you better than the black one!
ReplyDeleteyou should totally go for the red one!
ReplyDeleteRED! RED! RED!
ReplyDelete:D
looby xx
Keep the red!
ReplyDeletexx
oh dear. arent there more important things to be worrying about.
ReplyDeletered(:
ReplyDeleteI vote red. The lighter buttons look kind of weird on the black one, plus red is awesome anyway. The little trip to France sounds fun!
ReplyDeletered ftw!
ReplyDeleteI'd keep the red, it looks fabulous on you.
ReplyDeleteif you're in deep need of a black coat, then definitely black...it's a necessity! But if you have one (or more) that suit you just fine then go for the red for sure. I love the red one, personally. :)
ReplyDeletele rouuuuuuuuge!!!il a un petit coté...chaperon rouge
ReplyDeleteBoth coats are soooo cute:http://littlevintageprincess.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeletethe red! i really love it. i want a red coat but always end up with black, i may have to treat myself to this.
