Miniature Vintage Fashion

Whilst searching eBay for vintage clothes this morning I came across a beautiful orange 60's dress. Excitedly, I clicked on it, only to find that it was a miniature item of clothing for a Skipper doll! And I think I have found a new love.

The Skipper doll was introduced in 1964 as Barbie's younger sister. I much prefer her more realistic face and proportions to those of Barbie doll. Not only that, but her clothes seem to be 10x cuter! Just look at those little minidresses - I know I'd love one in my wardrobe!

I had a bit more of a search and found even more gorgeous miniature vintage clothes that I thought I'd share with you...

The unfortunate thing is that most of the outfits sell for well over £30 - a bit more than my budget would allow! But if I was to invest in anything then it would definitely be Skipper fashion.
I was also amazed to find mini sewing patterns for Skipper clothes. I wouldn't mind having a go at making some out of some of my spare material!

(I know it has been a long post but I couldn't resist adding this advert)

P.S. Thankyou so so much for all of your advice for cameras. This is one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make! I would love to be able to experiment with manual settings, but I think a DSLR might be too bulky for me. So I'm probably going to go for a normal Canon digital camera (maybe a G9/G10, or a PowerShot SX200 IS). Although I'm quite attracted to the Sony Cyber-shot H50... oh no, decisions decisions!

Wow, the outfits for the doll are so beautiful! They could give you such inspiration to make your own versions of them (but bigger of course!)
What a shame the dress you wanted wasn't life size! haha

That's so cute! I had a similar doll experience back in June when my Aunt was sorting through donations for the charity shop she volunteers at and discovered Sindy with her clothes and play pieces. I wrote a blog about it too. I wish those clothes were full size! Polly x

Skipper is way cuter than Barbie! How amazing would it be to remake some of these full size?

ah yes i totally agree with you! i prefer the skipper dolls (and kelly dolls) too! but then again, i would prefer barbie dolls than those bratz dolls, bleh.

i wish that drink from alice in wonderland exists, so i can drink it all up and be as tiny as skipper and fit into the clothes!
