Houndstooth

I'm delighted to announce that I've finally finished that horribly time-consuming history coursework, so I'm freeee now to do as much blogging/shopping/sewing as I want :) yay! I've spent the last few days relaxing, playing monopoly (booo, I lost) and doing a spot of vintage shopping with the boyfriend. Hoping to dust off my sewing machine tomorrow and re-start my clothes 'production line'!

Anyway, today, after donning an outfit involving a houndstooth polo-neck (thrifted for £1) I had a sudden moment of inspiration to take some 60s-style photos. I didn't originally intend to post them up because they were really a spur of the moment kind of thing (I very nearly ran out of natural light as well, hence the graininess). But I was really pleased with how they turned out, so here they are! They're a bit of a reference to Op-Art, mixed up with some old photos of Twiggy and a nice dose of mod style.

Thumbs up for beehives, fake eyelashes and red lipstick!

You may notice that my arms are in the air in every photo - thats because I had to hold up the 'background', haha.

As it happens, the background is hopefully going to be the fabric for my next sewing project - but I haven't decided what to make yet! What do you think, a dress, or a jacket?

oooh, tough decision. a jacket would be lovely but then again the print is perfect for a shift dress! good luck with your decision, please post about it when its done!

Ooh such lovely photos! I love houndstooth print... maybe you could make a little shift dress out of it, and that could be easily dressed up or down! A jacket would be nice though, if you're anything like me and have wayy too many dresses already! :) xxx

Awesome look! Ehm, I think I'd make a jacket 'cause you can match it with lots of colors/outfits.

Love the mix of '50s and '60s attire and makeup! :) Love houndstooth! God, I hated coursework! Hope it went well! How did you find that turtleneck for 1 quid? When I was in London, I couldn't find anything good for under at least 8 quid!

Random suggestion but I have had the same background dilemas. If you do a similar thing again try shutting the fabric in a door to hold it up. Photos have to be taken inside, unless you do it with a door from your home to the garden I guess, but it saves 'arms up' photos although you still look amazing in these.

Very Twiggy-esque - I love it!
I'd go for a skirt or dress with the houndstooth myself :-)

Great photos! You look fantastic, love the hair and lipstick. I'd vote for a dress, a simple shift-style would really show off the fabric. Good luck!

Wow -very mod et un peu francais je pense...
defiantly make a 60's shift dress, or something simple because the pattern is so loud already (?).
Take a peep at this http://cheapkicksarealright.blogspot.com/2010/03/letsdancelikeweusedto_09.html -just the links at the bottom are so similar to this style!

Good luck!

What about a shirtdress style ? Worn completly unbuttoned it becomes a cute duster/jacket,fastened up it's a dress.

Could I ask what brand and shade that red lipstick is please hunny? I love it. Also, I think you should make a dress out of the material, maybe the fit Audrey Hepburn has in 'Breakfast At Tiffanys' ?
