Fashionary

A few weeks ago my boyfriend gifted me with this BRILLIANT book as a thankyou present for helping him to make a short film noir. I saw it about a year ago on another blog, and have coveted one ever since. The book is aptly called 'Fashionary' - and it contains everything a young seamstress could ever need!

The main point of the book is to make fashion drawing easy. Each page has three faint outlines of a silhouette, meaning you can draw your designs on without having to worry about proportions! I've started to fill in some of my previous creations, of course starting with a Mod themed page. But I've got that problem that most people get when they're given a luxury notebook... I'm really scared to draw in it incase I ruin it!

It looks like it would be a brilliant way to document outfits too. Hopefully it will get be back in the sewing mood, after so long buried in history and economics revision notes.

The book also contains some really useful information, including patterns for skirts/shirts/dresses/trousers, and even a whole page dedicated to different collars! Yum. It also has a list of famous fashion blogs, retailers, catwalk locations and fashion seasons. And it's all bound in a Moleskine-style cover - very aesthetically pleasing :).

It was also a nice excuse to get out my old felt tips. These ones still had little stickers on saying 'Sadie' - believe it or not, from when I was 5 years old and had just started school! They still work!

And finally... say hello to my new bag :). I bought it a few months ago in a sale to lift my mood when I was revising, and I'm still as in love with it as the day I bought it. £55 well spent - it's real leather, and from Clarks.

What do you think of her?

P.S. If you want have a nose at the inside of a Fashionary, have a look here.

Those felt tips belong in the guinnes book of records! I am extra careful when I first start a new sketchbook but a few pages in you'll find the first shopping lists :)

I love your new bag, Sadie. It´ s amazing and it seems versatile as well.
And the book. What a dream. I wish I could have one of those, I mean, it's a total drag having to draw the models when all you want to do is move right on to the clothes.

Oh my gosh, what a perfect idea! I have struggled for years doing my drawings, and this book seems to be the answer to everything. I think I'll definitely invest in one when they're back in stock on the website! What a thoughtful gift :) I love the crayolas too, they remind me of being little! :) xxx

You are so cute! I just came across your blog - my husband is a filmmaker and I always help him on his low-budget independent short films. You think he'd get me a Fashionary if I asked really politely?

Wow I love those felt-tips, reminds me of when I was little! Fashionary looks amazing too, such a lovely idea! xx

oh wow, I like how the cover is leatherbound, it looks far more proffessional than a similar book i found in France. It had a gareish pink cover and was purely just pages and pages of mannequins, but having those extra lists must be cool.
I really like your little hearts background!
